📚  Hi! I’m Rui, nice to meet you here! I’m an aquatic bodyworker, eager to give good sessions to even better receivers. I have a degree in Human Resources and Psychology of Work, also formation in Sofrologia Caycediana, Healing Dance, WATSU and complementary techniques. I spent eight years teaching swimming in my twenties and after that, ten more working in a health services company in Oporto. Discovering aquatic bodywork in 2000 was a turning point in my path, revealing a true passion. The deep impact of these techniques, took me to work mostly with chronic pain in the north of Portugal and also sharing this flame through presentations in educational institutions and to the public in general, all over the country.

🌊  Water is a close partner in my life from the moment I started to swim with my team mates at the age of four, in front of my parent's house. Feeling the Atlantic currents moving through my body, challenging and supporting me, makes me believe that the ocean was my first aquatic school and the most determinant on a sense of security, flow and adaptation in the water.
Aquatic bodywork made me realize that I could combine this heritage and intimacy with the element into my natural curiosity about people, well-being, psychology, and philosophy. Following this call, I naturally became a WATSU Practitioner in 2004 and a Healing Dance Practitioner in 2019.
Today I see each receiver also as an ocean, where from I recognize similar virtues, trying to learn from what’s presented in each session and hopefully perfecting the art of relating & mirroring them.

🏠 Living near Oporto, in Praia da Aguda, I have the luck to choose being close the ocean, watching the boats, the fishermen and the surfers, take a walk on the beach, walking the fields, admiring all the surrounding landscape or go to the city.

🎯  I love all the good things in life, being close to friends, to discover new places, food, music, to read, aquatic activities, etc. Some of my favorite places to visit are the Gerês mountains and the Azores Islands.

💬 Healing Dance is so vast and rich that made me jump in completely after the first class with Alexander in 2015. I changed during that week, starting to see Healing Dance as a “rare act of creation”, a superb aquatic bodywork technique - the Healing Dance big boys and big girls have done a great job sculpting movement and intentions in the warm water. Lately in my sessions, working with chronic pain, I discovered that the Healing Dance delicate transitions, extreme care in motion and fluidity are by itself a miraculous therapeutic tool.
My receivers are the strength I carry in this path and testing Healing Dance for the first time with fibromyalgia and spondylitis was one of the most gratifying experiences of my life. The joy they were feeling from physical and emotional pain relief, made me resonate with it in a complete state of gratitude and humility.
