Teacher Certification

If you have a passion for Healing Dance and would like to become involved in teaching it, we are interested. Whether you are starting your teaching career with us or are already an aquatic instructor wishing to add Healing Dance to your repertoire of classes, we are ready to tailor a teacher training track to match your experience and qualifications.

There are two levels: junior teachers and primary instructors. Junior teachers represent Healing Dance in significant ways by:

1) offering demonstrations to interested organizations and groups;

2) serving as a resource to the Healing Dance community by providing supervisions for students working their way through the training track; and

3) teaching one day Experiences and two day Healing Dance Introductory Weekends.

Junior teachers graduate to become primary instructors of Healing Dance, qualified to do everything junior teachers do and to teach Basic Healing Dance. They progress onwards to teach Advanced Healing Dance and the underwater trainings, if they desire.

The baseline qualifications for becoming a junior teacher are:

1) Demonstrate a commitment to and fluency in the technique by using it in an active practice.

2) Be a Healing Dance Practitioner through one of the certification programs offered.

3) Audit and intern Basic Healing Dance.

4) Get a letter of recommendation from one of our teachers.

5) At this point, write a letter to Alexander explaining why you would like to be teaching the work.

6) Next we do an interview.

If by temperament and ability it appears you would fit into the team, we come to an agreement on a teacher training track for you. This may include taking the Assistant Training Course and/or the Teacher Training Course offered through WABA. A certain number of assists in Basic Healing Dance are required, at least one of them with Alexander.

Successfully jump through all these hoops and your career as a junior teacher is launched. A probationary period of two years gives you a chance to do a minimum of three Weekends, enjoy some successes, learn from mistakes, and be ready to tackle Basic Healing Dance.
